1/3rd (East Lancashire) Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps.
Awarded the Military Medal in the London Gazette of 29 August 1918.
Agar was a native of Burnley, Lancashire.
The Burnley Express reported, AMBULANCE MAN'S DECORATION. The Military Medal has been won by Private Richard Ager of 162, Manchester Road, Burnley. A member of the first-aid cult of St. John before the war, he went out on active service with the R.A.M.C. in November 1914. He was recommended for the decoration a year ago, "when he continued to attend two patients in spite of being wounded himself". During the whole of the war he was engaged in ambulance work in France. Two cousins and an uncle also served in the forces. Private Ager's award reflects credit on himself and the whole of the Burnley St. John Ambulance Brigade.
