Anderson was a native of Burnley, Lancashire.

Born at Hattersley Street, Burnley, Lancashire on the 26 December 1891. Died at 10, Water Street, Worsthorne, Lancashire on the 20 November 1972.

The Burnley Express of the 9 November 1918, reported BRAVE AMBULANCE MAN. Private F. B. Anderson, R.A.M.C., youngest son of Mr. G. Anderson, printer and stationer, has been awarded the Military Medal for bravery and devotion to duty in the field. He joined the R.A.M.C., on 4 September 1914, and for over three years has been attached to the Field Ambulance in France, being engaged in advanced field aid posts and stretcher bearing. Private Anderson was informed on parade of his distinction and was congratulated by his commanding officer.
