Awarded the Military Medal in the London Gazette of 29 August 1918.

Bassnett was a native of Burnley, Lancashire.

The Burnley Express of 25 May 1918 reported, M.M. FOR ROYAL EDWARD SURVIVOR. Private Frank Bassnett, (East Lancashire) Royal Army Medical Corps, has been awarded the Military Medal for gallantry and devotion to duty whilst serving in France. Private Bassnett has now served for close on four years in the army, and has seen service in Gallipoli and France. He was on board the ill fated ‘Royal Edward’, on which his nephew and two of his pals were lost.

He is the youngest of two brothers on active service, and in civil life was employed at Duckett’s, sanitary pipe manufacturers, Burnley. Private Bassnett is well known in the Spring Hill District, and is on the roll of honour of St. Paul’s Schools. He is also well known in football circles, being connected with Healey Wood Sunday School Football Club.
