The citation for his Military Cross was published in the London Gazette of 25 August 1916 and reads: - "For conspicuous gallantry in action. He took command of his company when all the senior officers had become casualties, and consolidated his position with great coolness and courage. Next day he organised and led a bombing attack, driving back the enemy."
Died of wounds.
