The Burnley Express of 1 June 1918 reported, Bombardier Davis. 134920 Bombardier Harry Davis, 71, March Street, Burnley, Lancashire is reported to have been recommended for the Military Medal for gallantry and devotion to duty under heavy enemy shell fire. His wife received a letter to this effect last weekend. The bombardier who is 27 joined up on the 1 June 1917 and went on active service last October. In civil life he was a clerk at Thornber's Daneshouse Mill. At Stoneyhurst Methodist Sunday School he was a teacher. One brother and many other relatives are serving.
