Davy was a native of Burnley, Lancashire.
The Burnley Express of 18 December 1919 reported, MILITARY MEDAL PRESENTED. On Saturday at Fulwood Barracks, Preston, the Military Medal was presented to ex - sapper D. Davy of the Royal Engineers (Signallers), whose home is at 38, Elm Street, Burnley. The medal has been awarded for getting communications through under heavy shell fire on the 25 October 1918 at Cambrai. Ex -Sapper Davy joined up in February 1917 and was at that time working at Lupton and Place's Works as an engineer. He went to France in April 1917, and won his award just a fortnight before the conclusion of hostilities. Since the armistice he has been with the Army of the Rhine until his demobilisation in September.
