Dover was a native of Burnley, Lancashire. Killed in action 27 July 1917.

The Burnley Express reported, OUR FALLEN HEROES. BURNLEY MEDALIST KILLED. Mrs. Dover, of 8, Lionel Street, Burnley, has got official news that her husband, Corporal Daniel Dover, 22495, of the King's Own Scottish Borderers, was killed in action on December 27th. The deceased soldier, who was 30 years of age, was awarded the Military Medal in June last. He joined the Army in November 1915, and had been at the front for 18 months, during which time he has seen some severe fighting. He was formerly a weaver at Calder Vale, and is on the Roll of Honour of St. John's, Gannow. He was also a member of the Rechabites. His step-father is ex - Sergeant Farrer, of 32, Leonard Street, Nelson, who has seven sons in the Army, of whom two have been wounded. Mrs. Dover has two brothers serving, and a brother in law of the deceased is in the Navy.
