Duxbury was a native of Padiham, Lancashire.
From the Burnley Express of 7 September 1918, Padiham Man Honoured. Mrs. George Duxbury, of 9, Parish Street, Padiham, has received a letter from her son Private Robert H. Duxbury, 67479, 1/5th Devon Regiment., that he has got the Military Medal, but he does not state under what circumstances he has won the honour. Private Duxbury is now only 19 years of age. Before going to France he had seen active service in Palestine. He is very well known and highly respected, and before enlisting he was employed by Mr. Herbert Noble at the Perseverance Mills as a drawer-in. He has a brother now on active service and also a nephew in the Coldstream Guards.
