Awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal in the London Gazette of 3 September 1918.

Graham was a native of Brierfield, Lancashire.

The citation for the Distinguished Conduct Medal, published in the London Gazette reads, "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in leading a patrol through a village. In spite of fiing from the houses, he forced his way through to a post on the far side. He then returned for reinforcements, which he again led through the village, and got established on the far side. His action showed the greatest gallantry and determination."
