Awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal in the London Gazette of 3 September 1918.

Heseltine was a native of Colne, Lancashire.

The citation for the Distinguished Conduct Medal published in the London Gazette reads, "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty whilst in charge of fighting limbers which were supplying the guns in action. He kept the guns constantly supplied with ammunition, and never lost touch. His work was done continuously under heavy shell fire. Throughout he displayed the utmost disregard for danger."
