Heseltine was a native of Winewall, Colne, Lancashire.
The Burnley Express of 29 May 1918 reported, COLNE SOLDIER'S DISTINCTION. Private Thomas Arnold Heseltine, of the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry and only son of Mrs. Heseltine of 19, New Row, Winewall, Colne, Lancashire has been awarded the Military medal for meritorious service and gallant conduct during the Somme battle of April 26th. In a letter to his mother, Private Heseltine who is only 19, tells how the colonel pinned the ribbon on his breast. He as also been promoted to corporal. Corporal Heseltine later died in captivity on the 12 November 1918 and is buried in Niederzwehren Cemetery, Kassel, Germany.
