Hudson was a native of Padiham, Lancashire.
From the Burnley Express of 31 August 1918: - ANOTHER PADIHAM M.M. Gunner Jas. Hudson, of the R.F.A., who has been out in France three years, has, according to a letter which his wife has written to relatives in Padiham, been awarded the Military Medal for "gallant conduct in saving his gun from enemy fire." The honoured soldier formerly resided with his father, Mr. Fred Hudson, in Grove Lane, Padiham, and was a weaver by trade. He has been married since he joined the Army, his wife being a St. Anne's lady.
