Langford was a native of Burnley, Lancashire.

The Burnley Express of the 23 August 1919 reported, PRESENTATION OF MEDALS. In this large report it states, Sergeant C. F. Langford of the Royal Field Artillery, and of 49, Parliament Street, Burnley has been awarded the Military Medal for the rescue of wounded under heavy shell fire.
