PADIHAM MEDALIST. HONOUR FOR FORMER INSTRUCTOR TO SPECIAL POLICE.

As we announced in our Wednesday's issue, Sergeant Harry Leigh, of the Motor Transport, wife resides at 14, Stone Moor Bottoms, Padiham, is reported to have won the Military Medal for gallantry in France. He is a brother in law of Sergeant Hasty, of Padiham, who was awarded a similar distinction a few weeks ago. Prior to enlisting, Sergeant Leigh was employed as chauffeur for Mr. H. Thompson, J.P., Simonstone Hall, and he was popular with the members of Padiham Special Police, to whom he was for some time drill instructor. His services in that capacity were recognized on his enlistment by a presentation.
