Mallinson was a native of Colne, Lancashire.
The Colne and Nelson Times of 18 November 1918 reported, Private C. Mallinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Mallinson of 42, Windsor Street, Colne has been awarded the Military Medal for "Bravery in the Field", aged 20 he enlisted in February 1916, going to France in June of 1916. He was wounded after being in the line only one month, but on recovery he returned to army service. Before enlisting he was employed at the Borough Collection Office at the Town Hall. he was a member of Colne, C.I., and a bellringer at Colne Parish Church.
