11551 Sergeant H. Manley, MM.


6th Battalion, East Lancashire Regiment. Awarded the M.M., in the London Gazette of 11May 1917. Manley was a native of Brierfield, Lancashire.


Mentioned in the Regimental History on page 341 which states:- "On the 4th of March at Aziziya, Mesopotamia, Sergeant Manley was presented with the ribbon of the Military Medal by General Maude, which he has been awarded for his gallantry in the Dahra Bends operations".


"Soldiers Died in the Great War" shows:- Killed in action, Mesopotamia, on the 9 March 1917. Born and enlisted at Brierfield, Lancashire.
