Parkinson was a native of Padiham, Lancashire.

The award of the M.S.M was under the heading: -"In recognition of devotion to duty and valuable services rendered whilst a Prisoner of War, which services have been brought to notice in accordance with the terms of Army Order 193 of 1919. To be dated 5th May 1919".
