Mr. and Mrs. Roddis, of 14, Hambledon View, Cheapside, Burnley, have had two cheery communications from their son, Signaller, 15884, Archie Roddis, King's Own Lancaster Regiment. Last Thursday they received a small printed card from him that read, "Your commanding officer and brigade commander, have informed me that you distinguished yourself on the 16th and 18th of August, 1916".

Enlisting on the 14 August 1914, Private Roddis went to the front in September 1915. He has had the good fortune to come through so far without mishaps.
