The citation for the Distinguished Conduct Medal published in the London Gazette reads, "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. A warrant officer of the best type, invariably setting a high standard of discipline to the men of his company. He has on many occasions during the last six months volunteered for the performance of dangerous duties".
