Awarded the Military Medal in the London Gazette of 7 October 1918.

Sudall was a native of Burnley, Lancashire.

The Burnley Express of the 7th December 1918 reported, CLUB MEMBERS HONOUR M.M. On Thursday evening the members of the Paradise Workingmen's Club, Burnley, made a presentation to ex Private John Sudall, of the Lancashire Fusiliers, who resides at 3, Rawson Street, Burnley. The presents consisted of a gold filled Waltham watch and a silver cigarette case, these were given to him in recognition of his having been awarded the Military Medal for "bravery in the field on the 29th May 1918". Ex Private Sudall, who had been in the Army two and a half years, was discharged on October 29th, 1918 in consequence of wounds received in action. An intimation of his award of the Military Medal has been announced in the London Gazette.
