Miss Jennie Jackson was known locally as Little Kitchener she used to raise funds for soldiers comforts by touring the local clubs,pubs and factories selling various items to be used to send "comforts" to the soldiers in the front line. She is seen here with Pte Thomas Whitham of the Coldsteam Guards one of the Burnley men who won the Victoria Cross |
