Men previously employed on the Burnley Tramways who joined the Motorised Transport Section of the Army Service Corps where their experience of mechanical transport was best utilised.

Miss Jennie Jackson was known locally as Little Kitchener she used to raise funds for soldiers comforts by touring the local clubs,pubs and factories selling various items to be used to send "comforts" to the soldiers in the front line.
