BURNLEY “SCOTTIE” KILLED (Burnley Express 16th September 1916)

This week the parents of Lance-Corpl. (17627) H. Bryan, of the 1st Scottish Rifles, have been informed that the War Office presume him to have been killed in action on July 20th, 1916, since which date he had been missing. The Bryans live at 30, Finsley Gate, Burnley, and the unfortunate soldier, who was aged 22 years, enlisted on Jan. 2nd, 1915, and went out to France in the following June. He was formerly a collier but prior to enlistment had for some time been a twister. He attended St Paul’s Church and School. Two brothers are at present serving
