FORMER TEACHER KILLED

News has now been received, after many months, during which time he was reported missing, of the death in action on July 30, 1916, of Corpl. John Dyson, the only son of Mrs S. A. Dyson, 17, Withington Road, Whalley Range, Manchester. Mrs Dyson was formerly connected with the restaurant in Chancery Street, Burnley, and was well known; and the late Corpl. John Dyson, who was single, was for some years a pupil teacher at the Hargher Clough Council School, and afterwards an assistant, being there about seven years, under Mr J. W. B. Hill. He was prominently connected with Salem Congregational Church and School, where he is still remembered by a large circle of friends. He was in a battalion of the Manchester Regiment.
