Ernest Greenwood The Enquiry Department for Wounded and Missing, connected with the British Red Cross and Order of St. John, wrote some time ago; - “We very much regret to inform you that we hear from R.A. Young 71486, Canterbury Infantry Battalion, lately in hospital at Cairo, that Sergeant Greenwood was killed on the 6th August and buried next day, together with Sergeant Flemmings and four troopers, on the left of Taylor’s Hollows. He states that stones have been placed over the graves. We warn you, however, against accepting this information as final, and are continuing our enquiries. Yours faithfully, R.L. for Sir L. Mallet.
