BRIERCLIFFE YOUTH KILLED.
(Burnley Express 27/10/15)
Another local Scottish Rifle soldier, Corporal Kenyon, of Briercliffe, was killed in action on September 25th in the great charge (Loos). He was the only son of Mr & Mrs Kenyon, Grocers, Haggate, and was before enlisting a weaver at Walshaw Mill. He was twenty years of age.
The Kenyon family came to Harle Syke district about twelve months ago, but previous to that had been in Burnley Lane, and the deceased young man worked at Briercliffe. He was a very smart youth, and his death has been much regretted in the district.
