In researching names on a WW1 memorial plaque at a school in Bath, I have come across your website as I am looking for info on Robert Stanley Welchman. I already have a lot of detail on this somewhat nomadic family (father: Stanley Lyne Welchman) that lived in Bath for only a short period 1908-1910.
I am putting together as much info as possible to enable all 8 classes of Oldfield Park School in Bath to run a comprehensive project on their WW1 fallen in the next academic year.

One of the things that has surprised me in researching my 33 names: I am really surprised that lads like Robert made it on to the school memorial here, given that he had moved at least twice since leaving the school. How did the makers of the memorial learn of his fate?

Our memorial does list "Welchman A.R. Sergt." but my research shows that there was only one possible Welchman family in Bath at any time that could have had a lad at the school in question and - yes - it is the family that moved on to Eastbourne and then to Burnley. There can't have been many Stanley Lyne Welchmans (father) around!

In fact the Welchman entry is one of three errors on the memorial, the others being an incorrect rank and the other a mis-spelt surname. It was great to find a photo of R S Welchman on your site, by the way!
