Alan Mackay donated his World War 1 and World War 2 record cards to Margaret
Nuttall and Susan Halstead of Burnley Community History Library at a short ceremony
during the Medal Information Day held at Towneley Hall on Sunday 21st November.
Alan has written the the record cards during 30 years of research into the men
from Burnley and District who died in the First World War and also those who
served in World War 2. The 10,000plus cards which have a total stacked height
of 10 feet form the basic core research on which “Burnleyinthegreatwar”
website and also the “Burnley and District World War 2” website
have been based. This unique and valuable collection of record cards will be
stored and is available to researchers in the library.
