Served 1898 until 1919 (21 years service but no LSGC). Served in the Boer War -QSA with bars CC, OFS and Johannesburg and KSA usual 2 bars. Arrived France with 1st battalion 22 August 1914 but was hospitalised sick in November 1914. He then served with the 765 Employment Company Labour Corps until his discharge in 1919.
