My Grandad was only 15 when he went to war. He was born on October 10th 1898, and died on January 21st 1991 in his 93rd year. He lived a long life but still spoke of the war and his friends and comrades he saw killed there.

After the war he married my Grandma, Catherine Kainey ( who he called Kitty) on 21st February 1920. They went on to have 7 children, 2 of whom died in infancy. The youngest of their children, born in 1942, was my mother.

The photo of the group is taken in August 1914, My Grandad is the one in the centre on the front row. He was only 15 years old!
Unfortunately I do not have any details of the other boys. I think they may have all lived close by.
