"I have a lovely photo of him in uniform and believe he lost a leg, maybe due to the war, I am not sure.
He was born in Burnley in 1894 to a Birkett Brown. He had two brothers who died in the war. Fred Brown was killed in Salonika on 19th Sep 1916 and Birkett junior was killed in Flanders on 31st Dec 1916."

George my Grandfather went on to marry a May Lee and they had three sons the eldest being my Dad James Birkett Brown,
