Sergeant James Duckworth
62952 Royal Army Medical Corps
Lived in Hartley Street

Born 8th Janury 1885, wife named Anne

My Grandfather, James Duckworth joined the RAMC and spent time in Egypt during the Great War. I do not know if he joined up here or in Burnley.
After the war he joined his wife in Shropshire.

Before the war he had a lot to do with Claremont Baptist Church, and he called his house in Madeley “ Claremont”.
He played cricket in a Sunday school league and won medals. Would these matches be written up in a local paper?

Round his medal it reads 62952 Sjt James Duckworth R.A.M.C
