"My grandfather was the surviving John Green who was married to Mr Martins daughter his first wife who later died and he then married my grandmother in 1929.
They moved to Lancaster in 1940 for health reasons but he unfortunately died within a few weeks of moving but my Mother (his Daughter) is still living here in Lancaster and will be 84 next February."

Born Burnley circa 1885,

Enlisted Preston aged 18 on the 21 January 1903.

Served in Ireland, India and UK - to France 22 August 1914. POW 26 August 1914. Repatriated 14 December 1918. Discharged 31 March 1920. Went to live at 28, Yorkshire Street, Burnley.

Looks like he received his 1914 Star but his pair were returned unclaimed for whatever reason although this is usually because they could not trace the recipient (King's Regulation 1743 of 1912 refers to this).
