Thomas Harrison
Royal Army Medical Corps (1/2nd E.L.F.A.)
Lived at 12 Tay Street
Died 23rd December 1931

"Whilst going through old death notices etc I came across one (which presumably was from the local newspaper of the time) for my great-grandfather Thomas Harrison of 12 Tay Street Burnley who died in 1931. The article indicated that he had served with the 1/2 East Lancashire Field ambulance during World War 2 but had been invalided home from Gallipoli in 1916. My mother had told me when I was very young that her grandma Harrison had lived with them and was in receipt of a war widow’s pension. I had always assumed that my Grandfather Harrison had been killed during the war but that was obviously not the case! However, presumably he eventually died as result of injuries sustained during the war and thus my grandmother qualified for a pension"
