Jabez
Hartley was one of three boys born to James (Jim) Hartley, who was my
great-grandfather Samuel’s brother and his wife Alice (nee Stuttard).
Jabez was, therefore, Ernest
Hartley’s first cousin. Some detail on him:
Jabez b. 29/10/1881 at 94 Master Street, Burnley; m. Gertrude Freshney
05/01/1922 in Grimsby; had two children, Gwenda & David (both dec.);
d. 24/11/1945 at Bracebridge Heath Hospital, Grimsby. Served 3rd Bn, Royal
Dublin Fusiliers. His home address was 17 Forest Street, Burnley.
