Wounded in Action in Gallipoli
Lived in Padiham

Newspaper Report Publication and Date Unknown

Looking through the Roll of Honour of those who fought in the Boer War and
for those who survived the Great War I am unable to see 303 Sgt James Ellis
Kenyon, 5Bn East Lancs, my Great Great Uncle.

He was born in Higham in 1879, married in 1904 in the Burnley area (probably
Padiham) and was living in Padiham in 1911. He died in Heywood in 1970.

I know very little about his service other than he fought in the Boer War (I
still have a painted Ostrich Egg he brought back) and that he was at
Gallipoli where he was wounded and consequently medically discharged with a
30% pension.(Fold 3 via WFA).

There is a Kenyon E. with no details in the Boer War list, this could be him
as he was always known as Ellis
