Private Emmanuel Kershaw
22842 Royal Army Medical Corps
Lived at 16 Emily Street

Emmanuel had brothers Arthur & John Kershaw who I also have pictures of but cannot just determine which is which on your site, there are two Arthurs & several John's. I do know that John Kershaw had 'William' as his middle name and was also in the RAMC, Emmanuel & he appear on the photo of Davidson Road War Hospital, Croydon in 1917

War Hospital picture has: John W. Kershaw on Back Row, second from right with RAMC uniform, moustache & arms folded;
Emmanuel Kershaw is in the middle row, second from right next to Sergeant with hat.

The back of the original postcard reads:
"Patients & Staff.
Dear Mother,
Just to let you know that we are alright and in the pink. I hope you are a lot better than you were last time I saw you.
Our John has got a new job, he is in the linen store now. I am still in the wards but I have four wards instead of two.
On the other side you will see all the patients in our hospital bar those in bed.
From your son Manny." xxxx
The postcard was sent from Emmanuel Kershaw to his Mother Hannah Kershaw nee Simpson.

(Pictures are by kind permission of Edith Hargreaves nee Kershaw, daughter of Emmanuel)
