Private Horace Lomax
53896 South Wales Borderers
Lived at 156 Oxford Road

"Horace was the youngest of the 10 Lomaxes, born in 1899. I believe he was part of a Lewis gun team and also acted as batman to an officer. After the War, in order to find work, he ended up in Nottingham where, by a strange quirk of fate, he became my father's stepfather and that's how subsequently my parents met! I knew Horace very well, as he lived until 1976. In common with many of the survivors, he rarely talked about the War, though he had some very strong views about how veterans were treated afterwards."
