Eldest son of Mr F Mackrell brother of Clifford MID.Joined as a Private in the 2/8 Manchester Regt and after 2 months promoted Sergeant,then to Bisley on a MG course passed with honours and posted to Div staff as a instuctor.Com Lt Nov 1915 and was wounded Twice and saw service at Somme 1916 Messines and Ypres 1917 Bapaume,Ploegsteert,Kemmel,Aisne,and the Marne 1918.Now Adjatant.Attended Burnley Grammer School.
