Lance/Corporal Richard Tenant Mallinson
240585 9th East Lancashire Regiment
Lived at 53 New Hall Street

My Grandfather - Richard Tennant Mallinson, fought in the Great War in the East Lancashire Regiment. Although he survived the war, he had to retire early because of shrapnel wounds and spent much of his later years in ill health. He died in Burnley 18th December 1968. Richard is on the far right, back row (Courtesy Colin Ormston)

Many years later he and his wife won a prize when the Burnley Express used to pick someone out of the crowd at Turf Moor. My Grandmother Margaret Mallinson is circled, the tall gentleman to the left is my Grandfather, Richard Tennant Mallinson.
