Herbert Schofield His 1914-15 star and Victory medal were auctioned on E-bay in January 2015 but did not sell He served in the 8th Battalion, East Lancashire Regiment and unusually his number on the 1914/15 Star is 8-16091. He was wounded in the head on the 30 December 1915 and returned to England on the 6 January 1916. On recovery he joined the Royal Defence Corps number 79975. Discharged in 1919. 1911 census confirms address and shows he was born in 1885, a jobber
at a cotton mill. Looks like he died in 1941.
