James Sweeney

My Great Grand Uncle James Sweeney, he was brother of Myles Sweeney who died 1916 in Pas De Calais, born 1878 in Over-Darwen, son of Martin & Mary Sweeney nee Mulligan of Tockholes Road. The family moved to Burnley mid 1880's. James Sweeney married Ellen Ferguson on Sep 12th 1903 at St. Mary's Church, Burnley and they lived at 16, Birtwell Street, Burnley up until 1912/13 when the family moved to Bolton. The photo was taken in 1916 and James had served in the Boer War & 1914-18 War in the Lancashire Fusiliers. He survived both Wars and died on 13th July 1940 at Townley's Hospital, Bolton.
