"Im looking for information about Rennie Thornber age 15 service number1864 and 249279 he was shot in Gallipoli and later returned home due to his brothers death Walter Thornber 2159 6 days later on the 4/6/16 again in Gallipoli. I cant find out much about him he was my great grandad."


Rennie followed his dad into clog repairs, he ran a clog shop on Hebrew Road in Burnley and supplied and repaired clogs for the miners at Bank Hall Pit, the police who were based in Cleaver Street Burnley and many mills which were in the area.He supplied clogs with irons and rubbers which could be replaced when they wore out. He lived with his wife Alice on Hurtley Street Burnley and had three children Walter (named after his brother who was killed in the war) Norah your grandma and Fred.
