Brother John (Jack) Whittam Whitaker awarded the Military Cross

 

According to a notebook kept by The Reverend A A Brockington, Chaplain, 23rd Brigade, RFA in the 3rd Division from June to September 1916 (Imperial War Museum, Box Reference 81/41/1) 2nd Lieutenant G R Whitaker, RFA SR was serving with the 3rd Divisional Ammunition Column before transferring to the RFC.

Inscription found in the front of a copy of "Leaves in the Wind", a book published in 1918.
