David was the son of Joseph & Johanna (nee Wilkinson), grandson of David (b1840, Lane House, Trawden) & Mary Jane (nee Abbot).

David was the nephew of my Grandfather, James Arthur Wilkinson 16th LFs whose pic I have already sent to you, DofW 28/29 May 1918. Johanna was Grandad's sister. David was very close to Grandad and was absolutely grief stricken when he was killed. I remember shortly before he died c1978/9 he talked very fondly of 'Uncle Arthur'.
