Died of accidental injuries on the 6 February 1945.

Aged 30, he was the son of Joseph B. and Judith H. Bibby. He was married and lived at 13 Brown Square, Burnley.

The Burnley Express of 10 February 1945 reported his death: -

R.A.S.C. Man's Death In Hospital

Mrs G Bibby, who lives with her two sons at 13 Brown Square, Burnley has been notified that her husband, Dvr Gilbert Bibby of the R.A.S.C. has died of injuries at a hospital in Reading.

Dvr. Bibby had been in the Army for 14 years and had served in India, Palestine and Ceylon before the war. He was a member of St Peter's Church and as a boy attended Claremont and Lionel Street Schools. During a short period out of the army he was employed by Edgar Holden Ltd. Confectioners.

The internment took place in Burnley cemetery on Monday preceded by a service in St. Peter's Church of Driver Gilbert Bibby, R.A.S.C. of 13 Brown Square, Burnley. As reported in Saturday's "Express" his death occurred following an accident. Formerly employed as a driver by Messrs E. Holden Ltd., he joined the regular army 13 years ago and had served in India, Palestine and Ceylon. He leaves a widow and two sons. A younger brother Private J. Bibby is serving with the R.A.O.C. in Holland. The Rev. G.C. Roodhouse officiated at a service at St Peter's Church and at the graveside. Floral tributes included emblems from the officers and men of his Regiment. The coffin was draped with the Union Jack. Arrangements by Burnley Co-operative Society.
