Killed in action at Fontenay le Pesnel, Tessel, Caen, Normandy on the 29 July 1944.

John was the son of Mr. Daniel and Mrs. Martha Duxbury of 15, Inglehurst Road, Burnley, Lancashire and the husband of Mrs. Ethel Duxbury. They had a son - David - born in 1944.

He enlisted on the 12 May 1939.

He is buried in the Fontenay le Pesnel War Cemetery, Tessel, Normandy, France.
