Killed in action on the 7 November 1942.

Aged 22, he was the son of Mr and Mrs W H Harrison and husband of Doris Harrison, of Burnley, Lancashire.

The Burnley Express of 11 November 1942 reported: -

Air Casualty

Mr and Mrs W.H. Harrison of 6 Torquay Avenue, Burnley have been told of the death on active service of their second son, Sergt. Pilot Roland William James Harrison, RAF, which occurred last Saturday. The funeral is at Burnley Cemetery tomorrow.

Sergt. Pilot Harrison, who was 22, joined the R.A.F. two years ago, and was attached to Coastal Command. He attended Heasandford School, where he was a keen cricketer, and he was a member of St Peter's Church. He was married about a year ago, and his wife, formerly Miss Doris Thornber resides at 62 Cromwell street. Sergt-Pilot Harrison was employed by the Hortus printing company. His elder brother, Leslie, is a prisoner of war in Italy."

Buried in Burnley Cemetery.
