Born on 28 June 1923 at 2, Steer Street, Burnley, Lancashire.

He was the only child of Tom and Eva Isabella Smith (nee Simpson).

Rifleman Hubert Corville Smith was killed in action on 7 June 1944 at Normandy.

He is buried in Cambes-en-Plaine War Cemetery, Normandy, France
