Killed in action on 26 June 1944.

Aged 31, he was the son of John and Elizabeth Warren and had 3 sisters Amy, Mary and Alice who lived at 31, Peter Street, Burnley, Lancashire.

The Burnley Express editions of 16 February 1944, 15 July 1944 and 26 August 1944 reported: -

George Warren was a loomer and joined the army in November 1939 and served in France being involved in the Allied evacuation from Dunkirk from 26 May to 4 June 1940. Later he took part in the invasion of North Afica and served throughout that campaign. He served in Sicily and and Italy an saw much heavy fighting. His brother in law Private Francis Fallon and 5 cousins (including Driver James Howarth) also served in the forces. His father John Warren served with the East Lancashire Regiment in World War 1.
