Flight Lieutenant Thomas Hargreaves, 622 Squadron, Royal Air Force. Awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in the Supplement to the London Gazette of 1 August 1944. The announcement included the following citation, "This officer is a keen and conscientious captain who has invariably displayed courage and determination in the execution of his alloted tasks. On one occasion whilst over enemy territory his aircraft was damaged in an encounter with a fighter. Although the windsceen was shattered, and the navigator was wounded, Flight Lieutenant Hargreaves went on to the target and made a successful bombing attack. His action was typical of the resolution he has shown throughout his tour."
